Have your child brush their teeth with you – Children like to copy what their parents are doing because they want to be like them. Brushing your teeth with your child will create a visual for them to copy which all child love. After your child brushes their own teeth, just go through a couple times to brush any spots they may have missed.

Let them pick out their toothbrush & toothpaste – You can make pediatric dental care at home more manageable by letting your child make some decisions. Brushing your child’s teeth needs to be done, but you can give your child a sense of control by letting them pick out their toothbrush and toothpaste.

Play a song or sing – Singing a song or playing a song for your child is a great way to keep them in good spirits while they brush their teeth. Music makes everything more enjoyable for children. Pediatric dental care workers may even have ideas for what songs will work well for brushing your child’s teeth at home.

Read books about brushing teeth – You don’t have to read a book while your child is brushing their teeth for it to help. Having books about brushing teeth and going to the dentist available to read at any time will get your child acclimated to the idea of brushing their teeth.
