When it comes to getting a tooth extracted, there will always be elements of pain, but at Around The World Pediatric Dentistry, our goal is to ensure that the process is as painless as possible for your child.  We specialize in children’s dentistry, and our practice is experienced and knowledgeable regarding tooth extractions.

How Do We Make The Process Less Painful?

At Around The World Pediatric Dentistry, we understand that a tooth extraction is never pleasant, especially for a child.  One of the ways we try to help is by making the process less painful.  We have various pain-prevention methods including local anesthesia and a special topical numbing ointment that preps the area to be numbed so that our patients almost never even feel the injection. We also over laughing gas to alleviate any anxiety and also aides in alleviating pain symptoms.  This makes the extraction itself much easier and less painful for your child.  Click here to learn more about our pain prevention methods and tooth extraction process.

Will The Tooth Hurt After It’s Extracted?

Post-extraction, there could be small amounts of pain once the anesthesia or numbing ointment has worn off, but this won’t last long.  If necessary, apply a small bag of ice on the outside of the jaw or use Children’s Tylenol or Ibuprofen.  This will be very rare for simple extractions and most primary teeth are considered simple extractions. Any pain after an extraction will typically last no longer than a day.
